Newsgroup XPAT Search (nzbcreate)
Perform a pattern search on a news server and optionally export an NZB file
Newsgroup XPAT Search is used to perform an XPAT or "pattern search" on a newsserver. The advantage of performing the search on the news server is that the news headers do not have to be downloaded to your computer to perform the search; you can download only the headers that matched your search results. This program is not a newsreader or downloader, but is rather just a search tool. You'll need to use another program, such as Android Newsgroup Downloader in order to download binary attachments using the search results. Android can import the NZB files that you export with this program.
Please note that your server must support the XPAT extension to NNTP. Some servers (such as Giganews and Comcast Newsgroups) do not support this extension, and this tool cannot be used with those servers. This software is a free download, so feel free to download the program and try it out to see if it works with your news server.

Below is a screen shot of the utility, showing you what it does. In this screen shot, I selected a bunch of Star Trek newsgroups and then did a search for "Marina Sirtis". A total of four posts were found. The search took 25 seconds to complete, and was performed against about two dozen groups. If I'd have used another tool that requires downloading of all the headers ahead of time, it would have taken tens of minutes to download the headers, even on a fast connection.

I recommend using Android Newsgroup Downloader to download NZB files. Android makes an excellent NZB downloader -- you can open NZB files that you already have directly into the newsreader, and you can also use Android to download the NZBs themselves, which you can then import with just a single click. You can use the Newsgroup XPAT Search tool to perform a search, then export the NZB, and finally import it into a newsreader like Android.
