an alt.binaries downloader (also referred to as a "newsgroup downloader") is a program for downloading content from the alt.binaries newsgroups.
QuadSucker/News, Binary Vortex, and SBNews are common examples of alt.binaries downloading programs. Typically these programs can be configured for either manual or automatic use. When using an automatic downloader, generally the entire newsgroup content is downloaded to your computer. When using a manual downloader, you usually pick the articles (or files) that you want to download.
